Copyediting & Proofreading

We want all our clients to experience an impressive level of professionalism when working with PA EDitorial Ltd. So, whether you are a business or a private client, all our services exist to make your life easier and stress-free.

You can trust us to supply you with the best results and top-quality client service.

For this reason, we developed a team of highly experienced copyeditors and proofreaders who work with our clients on a range of projects and journals. In addition, we offer bespoke services, where copyediting can range from a light touch to maintain the author’s voice to a more substantive edit that focuses on the structure and provides more substantial additions to the text.

Often, clients will be unsure which kind of editing they may need, so we’ve put together a brief explanation below.

Copyediting

Copyediting is when you get your raw material ready for publication, either in print or digitally. It covers a much broader range of issues with a lot more depth than proofreading and should always come before the proofreading stage. It removes distractions and ensures your work reads well, is accurate, consistent, and suitable for your intended audience.

Our copyeditors pick up on issues such as:

Copyeditors check the nuts and bolts of your work and make numerous and significant decisions that keep your reader smoothly journeying through your words.

Proofreading

Proofreading is the final stage your work goes through before it goes live online or to print.

It’s the last step in ensuring your work looks and reads just as intended.

Our proofreaders will work with you to make sure that what you present to your reader is a professional representation of you, the author, and your work.

Our team will look for errors in spelling, grammar and punctuation.
They hunt out the inconsistencies, as well as any layout and stylistic mistakes, such as:

Proofreading is about finalising your work to ensure it is polished and professional. It comes at the end of the writing process and is the ultimate and final check before your work is released into the world.

Project Management

Many publishers are choosing to introduce different layers of support. That’s why, here at PA EDitorial, we provide the EDiTech Service – keeping your journals moving.

Whether you’re an editor of a single journal or a global publisher, we understand that organising – and corresponding with – all the different departments that need to work together to produce a journal on time can be a huge task. Our EDiTech Service ensures the peer review process runs as smoothly as possible.

What We Do

Proofreading is about finalising your work to ensure it is polished and professional. It comes at the end of the writing process and is the ultimate and final check before your work is released into the world.

Journal Launch Services

With a team of expert publishers on board, we are able to support you with the launch of your first journal.

Journal Launch: Case Study

PA EDitorial Ltd was approached by The Delirium Society (a society where members regularly submit and publish manuscripts to various medical journals), which didn’t have the option to submit their manuscripts to a journal specifically dedicated to Delirium.

They wanted to establish a pair of journals – one selective, one inclusive – to respectively increase the quality and quantity of knowledge in the field. The journals aimed to be continuously published online, with open access but modest APCs. Their ambition was to pass savings to authors and lower barriers to publication.

The Delirium Society recruited 30 of its members to join their editorial board, who would be able to represent the diversity of the professional backgrounds and practice settings.

Our team guided and assisted them throughout the journal launch process, taking them every step of the way to their launch date.

The journals were successfully launched simultaneously on 15 March 2022:
If you are interested in launching a new journal, we would love to help.

Reporting Services

Reporting, spreadsheets and data are necessary, essential and significantly help publishers and editorial boards understand what is happening with their journals.

However, here at PA EDitorial, we know that undertaking such processes isn’t for everyone. So, to support our clients further, we introduced a dedicated reporting specialist to our team.

Our team have all the essential skills and training to create reports for our clients, especially those with other journal priorities, but it is PA Editorial’s Reporting Manager who has created hundreds of straightforward and accessible reports for our journals, whether they be annual or quarterly status reports, ad hoc reports for special issues, submission information or editor assessments and bespoke reports tailored to the needs of our clients.

Giving You Back Your Time

PA EDitorial can provide reports on almost anything you need (system allowing), yet we don’t need to manage your journal to create them: we can pop into your system, create the reports, and pop back out again.

If you require specific information for your journal and don’t have the time to learn how to use reporting tools such as Cognos (the editorial managers reporting tool), get in touch, and we will be able to help.
